Part 1: Nutrition & Exercise

Best Calorie Tracking Apps

I have a love-hate relationship with calorie tracking, but when I do use it, I swear by Nutracheck.

Why I prefer Nutracheck over MyFitnessPal:

  • Affordable subscription

  • Easy to use interface

  • UK-friendly food database

  • Available on iPhone, Android, and desktop

Not So Typical Top Tip: If you need help setting it up, contact me — I’ll walk you through it. I am also a Nutracheck Ambassador so reach out if you want the code and to save some money!

Part 2: Best Fitness and Exercise Trackers

I don’t always want to track workouts (sometimes gym = mindfulness time), but when I do, the Apple Watch has been my best investment.

  • Tracks heart rate, workouts, calories

  • Motivates me with reminders & progress rings

  • Notifications can be customised or turned off (less overwhelm)

Tried Whoop but it didn’t work for me — felt more intrusive than helpful.

Part 3: Well-being Resources

Fidget Toys

Fidget toys are subjective, but for me, squishy textures work best.

I carry Squishmallow keyrings everywhere to stay calm in stressful environments.

Noise-Canceling Headphones

A game-changer for managing sensory overwhelm. I rotate between two favourites:

Both allow me to control my environment and reduce stress.

Loop Earplugs

If you struggle with loud gyms, busy travel, or overwhelming environments, these Loop Earplugs are essential. They’ve been life-changing:

  • Comfortable enough to wear daily (even for sleep)

  • Reduce noise without muffling voices

  • I own 3 pairs and never leave the house without them

Sunflower Lanyard

Not for gym wear (safety first), but my Sunflower Lanyard has been invaluable in daily life.

It signals that I may need adjustments, time, or support without me having to over-explain.

FAQs

Q: Are calorie tracking apps safe if I struggle with disordered eating?

A: They can be helpful but also triggering. I recommend flexibility — use them only when they serve you, and stop when they don’t.

Q: What’s the most affordable sensory support tool?

A: Loop earplugs. Small investment, massive impact.

Q: What gym clothing is best if I’m sensitive to seams and fabric?

A: Manzicca and Love Lissie both use soft, stretchy fabrics with minimal irritation.
