Fitness with Feeling - Not So Typical Personal Training
Neurodivergent (AuDHD) Personal Trainer
If you’ve ever walked into a gym and felt like you didn’t belong... If you’ve ever been talked down to, overwhelmed, or completely lost during a workout... If you’ve started over more times than you can count...
Hi. I see you. Because I am you.
Want the full story of how I got here? Read more on my main about page, including my late diagnosis journey and why I built Not So Typical Fitness specifically for people who've never felt welcome in traditional fitness spaces.
I’m Rhiannon, a neurodivergent personal trainer based in Wolverhampton—autistic, ADHD, and someone who’s had a complicated relationship with fitness, food, and my own body. I’ve lost over 100 lbs in the past. I’ve also put most of it back on. And honestly? That experience is one of my biggest strengths as a coach.
That journey taught me everything about rebuilding a relationship with exercise after burnout—which is why I never push clients beyond what's sustainable for their mental health and capacity.
My late diagnosis came after years of not understanding why everything felt harder than it should—but it finally gave me the framework to build a fitness approach that actually works for neurodivergent brains.
Because I get it. I know what it’s like to be trying your absolute best and still feel like you're not getting it right. I know what it’s like to juggle mental health, executive dysfunction, sensory overload, and all the invisible stuff that makes showing up harder than people realise.
Part of working with sensory needs includes finding quiet gym times that reduce overwhelm before you even walk in the door
Why My Coaching Is Different
I created Not So Typical Fitness because traditional fitness just didn’t work for me. If you're exploring how neurodivergence impacts fitness for the first time, the Ultimate Guide to Neurodivergent Fitness breaks down everything I've learned about making fitness work with your brain, not against it.
It didn’t feel accessible. It didn’t feel kind. And it didn’t take neurodivergent people into account.
Why my neurodivergence shapes my approach to fitness goes deeper into how being AuDHD informs every decision I make as a coach—from how I communicate to how I structure sessions.
I'm not the kind of personal trainer who will:
Bark orders at you
Push unrealistic expectations
Hand you a strict meal plan with no flexibility
Instead, I will:
Ask how your brain works before suggesting how your body should move
Turn down the music if it’s too loud or overstimulating
Explain every exercise clearly—as many times as needed
Being a neurodivergent personal trainer means I design support differently than most PTs. I understand executive dysfunction, sensory needs, and emotional regulation challenges because I live them—not just because I read about them in a textbook.
I don’t do cookie-cutter plans. I build flexible, ADHD-friendly workout support that works with you, not against you. I believe in working with you to find what feels good, doable, and right for you. Whether that’s building confidence with weights, learning to use gym equipment without panicking, or just finding the courage to walk through the doors. Gymtimidation is real—the fear, the overwhelm, the worry about doing something wrong. I get it, and I'll be right there beside you through all of it.I’ll be right there beside you.
Explore my personal training options—whether you prefer gym-based, home-based, or online sessions, there's a format that works for your life and comfort level.

Who I Work With
My clients often include:
Autistic adults starting fitness for the first time
ADHD women looking for structure that doesn’t feel suffocating
People who feel anxious, gym-avoidant, or completely new—if this is you, start with Overcome Gym Anxiety to understand you're not alone and there are practical strategies that help
Anyone who’s been made to feel like they don’t “fit in” to fitness
There are no set requirements, you just have to be willing to try.
You won’t find any “no excuses” slogans here. You’ll find kindness, structure (when you need it), and a real human being who doesn’t pretend to have it all together.
If you're completely new to gyms and want to understand the basics before booking a session, the Gym Basics Beginners Guide covers everything from equipment to unwritten rules.

You Don’t Need to Be Fixed.
You Just Need to Be Heard.
I became a personal trainer because I didn't see anyone like me in the fitness world. My journey wasn't typical, but that's exactly why it matters. And honestly, I didn’t feel welcome. I want to change that—for you, and for everyone who’s ever felt like fitness just wasn’t made for them.
You don’t have to be skinny, neurotypical, confident, or already fit to work with me. You just need to be ready to try, even if that means trying again.
